Indian Paradise Flycatcher

(Formerly Asian Paradise Dlycatcher)

Scientific Name - Terpsiphone paradisi
Description - It is a medium-sized passerine bird native to Asia. Males have elongated central tail feathers, and in some populations a black and rufous plumage while others have white plumage. Females are short-tailed with rufous wings and a black head. They feed on insects, which they capture in the air often below a densely canopied tree.

Black and Orange Flycatcher

Scientific Name - Ficedula nigrorufa
Description -The black-and-orange flycatcher  is a species of flycatcher endemic to the central and southern Western Ghats, the Nilgiris and Palani hill ranges in southern India. The male is distinctly black headed with black wings. The female has the black replaced by dark brown and has a light eye-ring. They are usually seen singly or in pairs.They feed on insects by flycatching low over the ground (under 2m height[9]) and also pick insects from the ground.

Tickell's Blue Flycatcher

Scientific Name - Cyornis tickelliae
Description - It is a small passerine bird in the flycatcher family. This is an insectivorous species which breeds in tropical Asia, from the Indian Subcontinent eastwards to Southeast Asia. Its range stretches across all the countries from India to Indonesia. They are blue on the upperparts and the throat and breast are rufous. They are found in dense scrub to forest habitats. The name commemorates the British ornithologist Samuel Tickell who collected in India and Burma

Verditer Flycatcher

Scientific Name - Eumyias thalassinus
Description - It is an Old World flycatcher found in the Indian subcontinent, especially in the Lower Himalaya. It is named after its distinctive shade of copper-sulphate blue and has a dark patch between the eyes and above the bill base. The adult males are intense blue on all areas of the body, except for the black eye-patch and grey vent. Adult females and sub-adults are lighter blue. They are also interesting among the flycatchers in that they forage above the canopy level and perching on electric wires or exposed tree top branches.

Red-throated Flycatcher

Scientific Name - Ficedula albicilla
Description - It is a species of migratory bird in the Muscicapidae family. The female has brown upper parts with a blackish tail flanked by white. The breast are buffish with underparts mostly white. The male has ear coverts and sides of the neck blue-tinged grey with breeding males having orange-red coloration on the throats. It breeds in North Eurasia from Eastern Russia to Siberia and Mongolia. It is a winter visitor to South and South-east Asia in the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Vietnam, and Japan. Its natural habitat is taiga forest.
